13 Hours in Austin, TX | An overnight layover with a family of 5

When I booked our trip to Belize, it came with an overnight layover in Austin, Texas. My husband and I both love Austin, so this was a no-brainer excuse to go there again and take the kids. We got moving out of our house at 9:30am and made it to Austin around 2:00pm. We stayed at Hotel Indigo, which is right downtown and across from Stubb's. Now, if you are going to Stubb's or out on a more party-focused vacation, this is a great place to stay. If you are traveling with kids...not so much! It was LOUD very late into the night.

After checking in, we walked over to Pelon's directly next door. What a cute, fun, and hip restaurant! We sat out on the patio and I ordered a margarita flight to try out their different options. The kids shared a chicken burrito (only $10!) and we enjoyed a few moments of relaxation after a long travel morning.

We had a little time to kill so we hopped in the pool at Hotel Indigo for a bit before heading down to South Congress. We made dinner reservations at Joann's and were lucky to be in the happy hour window (5:00 - 7:00 pm). Everyone's meals were perfect, with zero complaints and all smiles.

Next, we walked around South Congress. The boys ate ice cream at Jenni's and we took a few cute and fun touristy photos with the murals around town. We walked a little bit further up the road and landed at Meteor where they have plenty of wine options, pizza, and lawn games!

We called our Uber around 9:00pm and headed back to the hotel to get a couple of hours of sleep before waking up at 3:00am for our flight to Belize!
